Columbia            Columbia is k nown for its amazing beauty and vast jungles, Colombia offers many surprises. Some people do not associate the  Republic of Colombia   as part of the Caribbean region. However, the country has 1000 miles of Caribbean coast extending from the Gulf of Urab to the Gulf of Venezuela. The only Caribbean island with that much coastline is Cuba. The Caribbean Coastal region covers 51,077 sq. miles which definitely makes it geographically "Caribbean".      Colombia's coast is marked by natural flora and fauna that attract visitors year-round. The largest protected area is Tayrona  National Natural Park  along the Caribbean coast. Santa Marta, the first Spanish settlement in Colombia, and its oldest surviving city. The region makes a prime tourist destination. Interesting fact, Santa Marta is officially named  “Distrito Turístico, Cultural e Histórico e Santa Marta”  which means “Touristic, Cultural and Historic District of Santa Marta".

I struggled with the English Translation of "El Caribe gris" because I do not know how to read or speak Spanish. when passages and articles are translated there is usually a language difference/barrier between the copies and the original make. It can be with certain phrases or even some words that do not have a proper way of explaining or translating the word(s) that the reader is trying to understand. According to "Translation of El gris" "The Columbian inscription, "the world is little," will be perniciously transformed up to the present into another aberrant formulation: "the Caribbean is little." Thus will be inscribed the figures of meekness, inferiority, cannibalism, poverty, smallness, associated with the region of the so-called "useless islands"(El Caribe gris).      This evidence gave me a misunderstanding because they are two meanings or two different points of view on how to describe the phrase "the world is

History of Jamaica

Jamaica       Jamaica was occupied by the Spanish from 1494 to 1655. The English came to Jamaica and invaded and captured the island for their own. Jamaica became a British colony in 1707, then became a "Crown" colony in 1866. A "Crown" colony means a UK government stands-in for the monarch back in the UK.  After the English captured the island they began using a British government to control all overseas territory. This type of action caused the English Civil War. After the war, the locals of Jamaica wanted a rule that only locals and not whites should govern the island and the British parliament. On August 6, 1962, Jamaica became independent with full dominion status within the Commonwealth, under a constitution that retained the British monarch as head of state.  Jamaica has thrived since its separation from the Spanish and Great Britain. Jamaica is one of the most visited Caribbean islands. Jamaica is best known for its jerk dishes, beautiful beaches, and luxuri

Blog Post #4

I feel that I make good blog posts. I do not think my blogs are the best in the world but I think as I continue to make blogs for this course I will have a better understanding and anew found respect for people who have blogging as a career.      I do not think our writing assignments are stressful but they can be confusing at times. Once I logged into zoom class my teacher made things a bit clearer for the assignments that were issued to me and my classmates.     I put all my effort into some of the assignments and blogs depending on what I am writing about. Overall, I do get the job done regardless but I will still, feel some type of way about the topic or the details of that specific assignment. With this course being strictly online, yes I procrastinate every time I have other classes that require my attention or I just do not have the brainpower to go through assignments or write/ type a whole essay or blog about something that's not really important to my life in today&
